Summer Technical Theatre Camp Details

  • There are 15 camp spots up for grabs, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The tuition fee per camper is $125.

Payment of tuition must be made by May 27, 2024. Campers will be considered officially enrolled only upon full payment of tuition.

  • The Spanish Trail Playhouse’s inaugural immersive technical theatre camp is like no other! Campers will dive deep into the world of stagecraft as they receive hands-on training in costuming, technical design, and set construction. Led by Kevin Russell, campers learn the ins and outs of every aspect of production, from concept to execution.

Throughout the camp, campers work collaboratively with fellow participants, gaining valuable skills and insights as they prepare to fully mount a production. But the excitement doesn't end there! As the grand finale, campers will put their newfound expertise to the test as they become the stage production crew for a spectacular performance of 'Finding Nemo.'

From creating stunning underwater landscapes to bringing beloved characters to life, campers play a vital role in making the magic happen behind the scenes. Don't miss this unique opportunity to unleash the creativity and passion for theatre in an unforgettable experience at Spanish Trail Playhouse's Technical TheatreCamp!

  • Throughout the week, campers will be working toward bringing a fully produced (staged, choreographed, costumed, scenically designed) musical to realization on the stage. In order to prepare for the show, campers will report for rehearsal at 9:00am on Saturday, June 15 and will remain at the theatre until the final performance concludes.

Each Camper will be given 2 complimentary tickets for family/friends/community to one of the 2 scheduled performances. All other tickets are $10.00 per attendee and can be purchased on Thursday the week of camp from 8am-12pm each day.

  • Production Camp T-shirt • Technical Theatre Training in set design/construction, lighting & sound and costuming • 2 Complimentary Performance Tickets to each Camp Performance • Production Training and How to stage a Show • 1 Lunch (Performance Day)

  • Campers are required to bring a daily snack in a labeled carrier/lunchbox as there will not be access to refrigeration or microwaves. All personal items must be clearly marked with the camper's full name.

It's recommended that campers bring bottled water for hydration throughout the camp activities.

On Saturday, June 15th, before the first performance, campers will be provided with sliced pizza and a drink at no extra cost. They they will not need to bring their lunch unless they prefer not to have pizza.

  • Campers must be at camp each day to experience the full experience, but we recognize that unforeseen circumstances may occasionally prevent campers from attending camp. However, if attendance issues start to impact a camper's ability to fulfill their role, roles may be reassigned.

Campers who miss technical rehearsal will not be included in leadership roles of the end-of-camp production. Additionally, any camper who misses a camp rehearsal without prior notification will not be permitted to participate in the camp performance.

EXTENDED CARE

Parents/Guardians that deliver their camper prior to 7:30 am or retrieve their camper after 11:30 am will be charged for Early Care/After Care at $25.00/hour or any part thereof. Payment will be due in cash BEFORE the camper will be allowed to return to camp.
